A web-based investigation examined data from a face recognition task, a glass pattern detection task, and the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) in 16 participants with CVI and 25 control individuals. Besides other tasks, participants completed a specific selection of questions from the CVI Inventory, providing a self-report regarding potential areas of visual perception that proved difficult for them. The face recognition task revealed a substantial performance gap between participants with CVI and control subjects, a gap absent in the glass pattern task. The facial stimuli revealed a considerable increase in the activation threshold, a reduction in accuracy, and a rise in reaction time. The glass pattern task, in contrast, showed no such shifts. Emotional and internalizing problems, as measured by SDQ sub-scores, saw a substantial rise among CVI participants, following adjustments for age-related factors. Lastly, individuals exhibiting CVI reported more challenges on the CVI Inventory items, particularly the five questions and those directly related to identifying faces and objects. Individuals with CVI, based on these results, may display marked difficulties in face recognition, which might be tied to their overall quality of life. We apply a methodology influenced by Donati's (1992) political discourse analysis and Snow and Bedford's (1988) framing analysis to investigate communication about infertility risk in the abortion debate, fetal abnormality risk in prenatal screening discussions, and the risk of emotional deprivation and infant morbidity within debates on parenting practices. The construction of risk in reproductive practices, including childcare, serves to establish a moral framework for motherhood. This is achieved by defining 'irresponsible' reproductive behaviors and their associated risks, which could further marginalize those already at a disadvantage.
